The Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA) was set up by an Act of Parliament in July 2010 (GIEPA Act 2010) and reviewed in 2015 with the mandate for promoting and facilitating investments, Export, and providing support to micro, small and medium enterprises in the country. The GIEPA Act of 2015 mandated the Agency to conduct policy advocacy for the establishment of a conducive business environment towards sustainable socio-economic growth through employment creation, poverty reduction, and wealth creation.
GIEPA advises and collaborates with the Government of The Gambia, the private sector, and civil society towards developing a globally competitive business environment. Key functions center on promoting the exportation of Gambian goods, developing and regulating Special Economic Zones (SEZs), formulating investment promotion, export and enterprise development strategies, employment creation, and wealth generation through private sector-led growth as enshrined in the National Development Plan 2018 – 2021.
